Privacy Policy

The short version: Chain Scroll collects no data. None. There is no account, no analytics, no server, and no ads. Everything the app knows lives on your device and nowhere else.

What Chain Scroll knows, and where it lives

Chain Scroll counts your daily "light-ups," keeps a short local history so it can show your week, and remembers your settings. All of this is stored only on your device, in the app's own private storage. It is never transmitted anywhere, because there is nowhere to transmit it — Chain Scroll operates no servers.

Screen Time

Chain Scroll works through Apple's Screen Time framework (Family Controls), which you grant permission to during setup. By Apple's design, the apps you choose to limit are represented to us as opaque tokens: we cannot see, learn, or record which apps you picked — not on your device, and not anywhere else. Your app usage is metered by iOS itself; Chain Scroll never receives your browsing or usage history. Consistent with Apple's rules for this framework, no Screen Time data is shared with anyone or used for advertising — ever.

Purchases

The optional one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details, and we don't receive any personal information about you when you buy it.

Lighter Mode (NFC stickers)

If you pair an NFC sticker as your "lighter," the app writes a random code to the sticker. That code exists in exactly two places: the sticker and your device. It identifies the sticker, not you, and is never transmitted.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, they are scheduled locally on your device (for example, when a scroll break ends). No notification data leaves your phone.

Children

Chain Scroll is made for adults who want to change their scrolling habits and is not directed at children.

Changes

If a future version of the app ever changes any of the above, we'll update this page and the app's App Store privacy label before that version ships. Given the whole point of the product, don't hold your breath.
