The Lighter

Give yourself something to reach for.

I found that tapping Light up was still a little too easy. So I put an NFC sticker on my old Zippo. Now, if I want to scroll, I have to go get it.

That’s Lighter Mode. You pair a sticker with Chain Scroll, put it somewhere useful, and tap it to your phone to start a scroll break. An old lighter works. So does something you leave on your desk.

Your app asks before it opens.
Pair a sticker. Name it. It's yours.
The pack drains where you can see it.

How it works

  1. Pair your sticker. Open Lighter Mode in Chain Scroll and follow the instructions. The app sets up the sticker for you.
  2. Put it somewhere that helps. On something you carry, or across the room if you want the extra walk.
  3. Tap to light up. Open Chain Scroll, tap Tap to light up, and hold the sticker to the top of your phone.
  4. Take your break. Your selected apps unlock for the time you’ve chosen. When the break ends, they lock again.

You can borrow a light up to three times a day.

In the meantime, you can use a blank NTAG213 NFC sticker. If you’re putting it on a metal lighter, make sure it’s designed for metal surfaces.

What the sticker knows

The sticker holds a random code that Chain Scroll recognizes. It doesn’t hold your personal information.
